Liner Notes

“Fly on the Wall” is dedicated to my students as well as former and current teachers.

In the days before looper-pedals, backing tracks and play-along software, I used to have a guitar teacher in whose room I wished I could be a fly on the wall during his practice routine. I would wonder things like “Would he play songs? If so, which ones? How would he play the melody and chords at the same time? How would he solo without any other accompaniment?”

This album is a good representation of how I like to play popular and standard tunes for solo guitar when one’s around and I’m just having fun and not working on anything in particular. The guitar is such a versatile instrument and a perpetual joy. I hope some of my students and people in general will enjoy the opportunity to be a fly on the wall in my home studio.
